Early Childhood Studies

You can help to shape the future through learning about the early years of education. During this innovative Early Childhood Studies course, you will study how 3-7-year-olds learn, gain insight into child development, and learn how to help them grow into their full potential.

  • What can I do with an education degree?

    After your degree you may wish to complete a PGCE to become a qualified school teacher. Other career paths could include:

    • education in galleries and museums
    • education planning or policy
    • education administration
    • higher or further education
    • nurseries and primary schools
    • youth or community education.

    You could also progress to postgraduate study, specialising in an area of interest.

  • What do I need to study an undergraduate education course?

    Take a look at the entry requirements for our Early Years Education and Education Studies degrees for the latest information.

    If you do not have the exact grades or subjects at level 3 to enter your degree course directly, both our BA (Hons) Early Years Education and our BA (Hons) Education Studies are offered with a foundation year as an option. This would mean completing a four-year course, with an integrated year to help you prepare for degree-level work in the area of education.

Where this course can take you

Once you graduate from one of our education courses, you could go on to work in a range of education jobs, including non-teaching jobs in education. Roles may include:
