Sustainability

Our policy and plans

UWL recognises it has a responsibility to develop sustainability and protect the environment. Our Strategic Plan contains a commitment to 'improve significantly our environmental credentials'.

To deliver on this aim the University has developed a comprehensive Sustainability Strategy based around four key themes;

  • equipping our graduates with the understanding and knowledge of sustainability
  • encouraging sustainability research and knowledge transfer
  • improving the environmental performance of operational activities
  • communicating environmental issues to staff and students

Our sustainability ambitions are supported by the University’s Environmental Review Board (ERB) which is composed of representatives from across UWL’s academic and professional service departments, and UWL Students Union.

The ERB provides support and governance for the University’s sustainability programme, and monitors progress towards achieving our sustainability objectives.

We are developing various policies and systems relating to these areas, and the latest of these can be viewed below.
