Vestry Hall Studios 1 and 2
Featuring a Custom Series 75 Neve console, an Otari MTR90 Mk2 24 track 2” analog recorder with CLASP, Protools HDX with Apogee Symphony AD/DA and monitoring by ATC, Yamaha and Dynaudio, this studio represents a dedication to quality signal path and a combination of classic and contemporary recording capabilities. The room enjoys extensive outboard hardware and an impressive mic selection including Neumann, DPA, Coles, AKG, Beyer and Sontronics mics.
The studio is connected to Vestry Hall, a large orchestral recording space, and is also connected to a fully isolated drum and amplified instrument live room.
Recently rebuilt, this studio featuring a multi-level surround monitoring system by Dynaudio and extensive synth and sampling hardware, Studio 2 is designed to facilitate experimental audio techniques and acts as a base for MA students studying on the MA Audio Technology and Record Production Post-graduate degrees. The studio features an Avid C24 controller, contains preamps by Rupert Neve and Focusrite, and houses the controllers for an AMS Soundfield mic.
Recently completely refurbished, this post-graduate base room studio boasts a 13.1 Aura 3D monitoring system by Dynaudio Acoustics.
Extensive outboard and synth/sampling hardware plus AMS Soundfield hardware makes this studio an experimental audio powerhouse.
St Mary's Road Basement Studios
All of our St Mary’s Road Basement Studios feature either a Digidesign C24 control surface or an Audient ASP 8024 analogue recording console. Each room is also equipped with Protools HDX and Focusrite RedNet IO hardware for high end AD/DA and boast a wide range of outboard for all possible needs. Both stereo and 5.1 Monitoring is by Dynaudio, PMC, Amphion and Unity Audio.
Each studio comes with its own Dynamic and Condenser Microphone kits of a professional standard, giving you the best tools to create your recordings.
All tracking rooms enjoy access to live rooms of varying sizes and many feature multiple isolated booths which feature acoustic pianos by Steinway.
The original basement studio, recently refurbed and updated with new Amphion and Unity Audio monitors. This studio features a small live room and additional ties to the large amplified performance room next door.
A workhorse tracking and mixing room with a large live room and separate vocal booth. Monitoring by Amphion and Quested.
Studio 2’s Live room features variable acoustic treatment and a Steinway baby grand piano.
A Veale Associates designed 5.1 tracking and mixing room boasting 2 separate live rooms and a wealth of outboard Hardware.
Studio 3’s live room features a large isolated booth with video links to the control room.
Designed by Eddie Veale of Veale Associates, this 5.1 room is primarily configured for Audio Post tracking, editing and mixing, but serves very well as a general production studio too.
Paragon Annex Studios
Our newest facilities are just down the road from our Ealing site, the Paragon Annex Studios are useful for a wide range of tasks - from tracking live bands to mixing in 5.1 surround and stereo.
The seven studios feature Audient ASP8024 or ASP4816 recording consoles or the Avid C24 control surface and boast a wide range of outboard for all needs. Both stereo and 5.1 Monitoring is by Dynaudio, PMC, Amphion and Unity Audio, and Studio 3 boasts a full range 5.1 PMC IB1 system designed for Audio Post Production and sound to picture.
Each studio comes with extensive outboard systems a variety of digital and analogue synths and an extensive mic stock, giving you the best tools to create your recordings.
All tracking rooms enjoy access to one of three shared live rooms of varying sizes, with a Steinway Baby Grand in the largest room, which is full capable of accommodating a full band. The smaller live rooms feature Foley flooring traps supporting the recording of moves and steps for Audio Post techniques.
The largest of the new Paragon Annex Studios, this room is designed primarily for tracking and mixing, and is occasionally used for taught classes.
Sharing the large live room with Studio 1, this room is designed for 5.1 mixing and tracking.
This studio is primarily designed for Audio Post Production or sound to picture applications, but the full range PMC IB1 5.1 monitor rig is popular with experimental students too.
Based on the Avid C24 controller, this 5.1 room is a flexible studio, supporting tracking, programming, editing and mixing of a wide rage of material.
This stereo production room features an Audient 4816 and an EMS VCS3 analog synth.
A second C24 equipped 5.1 editing and mixing suite.
A second 4816 equipped stereo room equipped with an Analogue Systems 8000 modular synth.
This large live room is equipped with a Steinway baby grand piano, backline and a drum kit and can be used from any of the Paragon Annex studios via the RedNet network audio system. This room has line of sight to Studios 1 and 2.
Featuring a floor equipped with Foley traps for Audio Post recording, this room supports acoustic recording up to drum kit levels. It is connected to Studios 4 and 7.
An identical live room including Foley traps but without the piano to allow larger ensemble recordings. Connected to Studios 5 and 6.
Teaching and Lab Facilities

- Two 18 Apple iMac equipped labs featuring Protools, Logic, Sibelius, Abelton Live, Native Instruments Komplete, Max/MSP and many plug-ins. These labs are open access when not in teaching use.
A primary teaching space to allow stereo tracking and mixing techniques to be explored without the need to use the studios. This room features an identical equipment spec to the larger stereo rooms found in the basement, at Paragon annex and at Vestry Hall.
A second teaching resource space, configured for 5.1 monitoring.
The labs are used for teaching technique classes across the curriculum. The labs are open 24/7 during semesters and are a walk in resource outside of taught classes.
Extensive, fully flightcased PA systems from Nexo and FBT, digital consoles by Digico and Behringer, mics by DPA, AKG, Beyer, Sennhiesser, Shure. Multiple channel wireless mics by Sennheisser.
