Fourth Annual Law Dinner 2010
In November 2010 the Ealing Law School at University of West London hosted its fourth consecutive Annual Law Dinner at the award winning Pillars Restaurant on our St Mary’s Road site, Ealing site, West London campus.
Alongside the University’s Alumni Relation’s Team the Law School welcomed alumni, friends and staff back to campus once again to celebrate what has become a very successful annual event.
Cooked and waited by students of the London School of Hospitality and Tourism, over 80 guests attended for a three course dinner, awards and speeches.
This year was a very special occasion in particular as during the course of the evening the University presented honorary awards to three lawyers who have made a major contribution to the legal community and the Law School;
Michael Garson from the National Council of the Law Society, who became an Honorary Professor for his work with the Professional Development Centre in Law; Karon Monaghan QC, a distinguished alumna who has worked hard on behalf of the University’s alumni association; and finally Linda Goldman, author and Barrister. Our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter John, presided over the Conferment’s ceremony and later joined the dinner.
The Law School also awarded the fourth Michael Molyneux Bursary to a first year, full-time, LLB student with the best achievements in exams and assessments. Many of the attending guests had made donations to this fund already and it was also an opportunity to celebrate their support of the Law School.
The Annual Law Dinner was first launched two years ago to honour the memory of Professor Michael Molyneux who died on 25 October 2005.
Alongside the dinner a bursary fund was established in Professor Molyneux’s name and over £20,000 has now been raised towards the Mike Molyneux bursary fund.
Since the first dinner, the occasion has become a wonderful opportunity for those associated with the Law School to come together and revive old friendships as well as to meet other alumni.
We hope to continue the success of the event once again this year and look forward to welcoming back alumni of the School to celebrate with us.
