Logging on to Blackboard (Students)

Changes to the way you log on to Blackboard

From Thursday 02 May logging on to Blackboard has been fully integrated with the student portal.

When you go to http://online.uwl.ac.uk you are now taken to the Portal login page.

Enter your normal UWL username and password here (the same details you use to access your University email) and you will be taken through to Blackboard.

If you have already logged on to the Portal at https://portal.uwl.ac.uk then you won't need to log on again, but will be taken straight to the Blackboard home page.

Because Blackboard provides access to personal information about students and staff, it is password protected - you need to login using your student ID number as it appears on your University ID card, and a password.

All students enrolled on a programme of study at the University are automatically given a Blackboard account, and this will be activated automatically when your enrolment has been processed.

Your Username
This is the ID Number which appears on your Unique Card.

(the number just below the barcode, next to the words ‘ID No.’
not the Pxxxxxxxx number or any other number)

Your Password
A default password will have been created for you - this is the same password that you use to access your student email account, the student portal, and to log on to computers in the University Libraries.

You should have been told the standard format for new passwords when you started your course (new starters will have received an email to your personal email address a couple of weeks before the start of the course).
