Equal opportunities and diversity
One of University of West London's unique selling points is the diversity of its student population.

Our students are from a diverse range of backgrounds and nationalities and bring to the University valuable skills already gained from employment.

The Careers and Employment Service at University of West London promotes and celebrates this diversity both as a service provider and in its interaction with students and graduates to ensure that all students are able to access employment opportunities whilst also recognising that some students and graduates may experience barriers when looking for employment.

University of West London is committed to supporting mass participation in higher education as part of its contribution to equality and social justice.

The University provides quality higher education through a curriculum which embodies the central values of equality.

University of West London aims to increase learning opportunities for all students but particularly for those who have traditionally been denied access to higher education.

The Careers and Employment Services' commitment to equal opportunities

University of West London's Careers and Employment Service (CES) endeavours to support this mission statement by
  • Promoting equality of opportunity as a provider of services to all University of West London students and graduates
  • Promoting equality in its interaction with employers and outside agencies
Services to students and graduates

We are committed to offering a high quality service to all of our clients and supporting their transition into the world of work. We aim to help all students and graduates compete on equal terms in the marketplace by doing all we can to:
  • guide students and graduates through their career choices and the application process for jobs and further study
  • offer guidance regarding strengthening and enhancing these applications
  • give advice and support to counter any discrimination faced.
Access to guidance services

The Careers and Employment Service is committed to developing a service which can be accessed easily by all University of West London students and graduates on full-time, part-time or open learning courses, whatever their circumstances.

In this regard, we aim to make our services disability friendly and to offer services at times to meet the needs of all our students.

CES therefore runs an open access Careers Resource Area on the Ealing Campus; an evening service by appointment and an e-mail guidance service for those who cannot pay us a personal visit.

For further details see our location pages.

We are open throughout the university vacations and University of West London graduates can use our service for up to three years after completing their course.

Countering discrimination

Graduate employment and training has become an increasingly competitive area and students from a non-traditional background can often feel disadvantaged when making career choices and entering the job market.

If you feel that CES has not addressed issues of age, gender, colour, race, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion, disability or sexual orientation in any of the services we provide to students and graduates, then please let us know.
