Destination of Leavers from Higher Education

Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) is a twice yearly national survey of all graduates at UK universities. University of West London graduates from diploma, degree and postgraduate courses are asked to provide information about what they are doing six months after graduation.

The Higher Education Statistical Agency (HESA) uses this information to compile each university’s Employment Performance Indicator (EPI).

The EPI is the institutions graduate employment rate (based on full-time first-degree courses) which expresses the number of graduates who are working or studying (or both) as a percentage of all those who are working or studying or seeking work.

The University of West London’s EPI is a measure of how successful our graduates are in finding employment and how we compare in this area to other HE institutions.

This information contributes to national newspaper university league tables.

University of West London's current EPI can be found on the HESA website.

The University of West London's current EPI for the period 2009/10 is 91.1%. More details can be found on the employment of graduates page of the HESA website.

Longitudinal survey

HESA also conducts a longitudinal survey where graduates are contacted three years after completing their course of studies.

Find out more from the HESA website and HESA's most recent Longitudinal Key Findings Report.

It gives an overview (based on the latest HESA DLHE survey) of how many graduates are in employment, the types of jobs they go into, and how many go into further study.

The Prospects website gives more information.
