The School runs a number of events to communicate and collaborate with IT professionals in our region. We also participate in national and international workshops and conferences.

SOCIOTECH-ID 2008 Workshop
A joint event from the BCS Interaction and Sociotechnical groups was held in May 2008 at London BCS Offices.
IADIS CELDA 2007
Dr Samia Oussena and Bruce Laurie presented at this conference in December 2007 in Portugal. Titled "Assessing academic achievement and acquisition of expertise in an agile development environment" the paper covered our teaching of development methodologies on undergraduate degree programmes and seeks to replicate as closely as possible the use of agile techniques in a real business environment.

Customer Centric IT
A one day workshop in July 2007 organized by Dr Jose Abdelnour-Nocera of the School of Computing and Technology which explored:
How to gain competitive advantage with small IT investments
How to predict and evaluate a successful coupling between IT, the company and customers
Opportunities offered by the open source community
Invited speakers included:

Professors Richard Vidgen and Philip Powell from University of Bath School of Management,

EU-China summit on Human Centred IT
Professor Andy Smith co-chaired the EU-China summit on Human Centred IT in Beijing in June 2007 as part of the SESUN project. See the

INTERACT 2007
Professor Andy Smith attended this bi-annual event in Rio de Janeiro in September 2007. He presented a paper on and jointly manages a Special Interest group meeting with delegates from four continents.
