Research in Computing

Students' study will be backed by a wealth of research expertise. In the 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise, the majority of our research in Computer Science and Informatics was judged to be of either 'internationally recognised' or 'internationally excellent' standard, with some aspects of the work judged to be 'world leading'.

Research within the school takes place within the following groups:

• Centre for Model-Based Software Engineering
• Centre for Networks and Distributed Systems
• Centre for Internationalisation and Usability
• Information management and libraries

The groupings have been able to demonstrate international recognition in terms of originality, significance and rigour as evidenced by the volume of external research income, the reputation of research collaborators and research outcomes. Externally funded projects with total value well in excess of £1 million have started recently.
