What is HEAR?

The Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) provides students with a comprehensive record of their achievements at university.

It outlines students' academic achievements and provides formal recognition for their approved extra curricular achievements, prizes and awards.

This means it gives you as employers, better, more detailed, information about the performance of student applicants during their time in higher education.

HEAR is available throughout a student’s career in higher education, so it could be used to help selection in graduate recruitment.

All full-time undergraduate students who enrolled at UWL from September 2013 onwards receive a HEAR shortly after they graduate.

The HEAR is issued to students electronically, using secure technology that allows them to share their HEAR with their prospective employers.

This means employers no longer have to request or verify electronic transcripts with the University.

What are the benefits of HEAR to employers?

We understand that employers are a diverse group and research shows that they will use the HEAR, or aspects of it, in different ways.

For ease of reading and comparison, the HEAR has been designed in a clearly set out, standard format. All higher education institutions issuing a HEAR use this template.

The HEAR gives you better, more detailed, information about the performance of student applicants during their time in higher education.

All of this information is verified and validated by the institution, so you can have confidence in it.

The HEAR may even remove the need for academic references by providing detailed, rapid and automated confirmation of student / graduate achievement.

How can employers use HEAR beyond recruitment?

The HEAR is designed to emphasise continuing learning and professional development, that you expect of your employees.

Some employers plan to use it with new recruits as a basis for further employee development.

Students may choose to share their HEAR information, making it accessible to employers.

How can employers access the UWL HEAR?

Graduates are able to share their HEAR with you as employers by using a secure electronic token. You can access the HEAR by logging to https://verify.uwl.ac.uk.

How can I report issues related to accessing HEAR?
