English language requirements

  • Undergraduate entry requirements

    Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on an undergraduate degree:

    • Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) with a minimum of Grade III
    • National Technician Certificate
    • Associate degree
    • British/International A Levels (from a minimum 112 UCAS tariff points depending on course)
    • IB Diploma (from a minimum 25 points depending on course)
    • Second and final year entry of a Bachelors degree may be available for those with a Higher National Diploma (HND) from the UK with a merit profile
    • A recognised foundation course
  • Postgraduate entry requirements

    Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on a postgraduate course:

    • Bachelors degree with a minimum Grade B/Class II lower division
    • Degree equivalent to UK Honours Bachelors degree (2.2 minimum)
    • For PhD: Masters degree, when studied at the following institution(s):The University of the West Indies, St Augustine or awarded by a tertiary institution and study has been approved by the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT)
  • Integrated Foundation Year entry requirements

    A number of our courses also offer the opportunity to study an integrated foundation year which forms an integral part of the degree course. Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on a degree with an integrated foundation year:

    • Caribbean Examinations Council Secondary Education Certificate with General Proficiency grades One (I) to Three (III)

     

  • PhD entry requirements

    Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered for entry on a PhD:

    • UK upper second class honours degree (2:1) and a Masters degree with merit or distinction. If your qualifications are not from a UK university, we also consider recognised equivalent qualifications from accredited overseas institutions and equivalent professional qualifications.
