The Centre for Internationalisation and Usability (CIU) aims to support software developers in building systems that meet the needs of end-users globally.
We focus on software development in a global market and culture-centred design.
Our research sets out to increase knowledge of cultural differences in international software development. But there are two
challenges that need to be addressed.
Firstly, computer science and interdisciplinary challenges. These need to be overcome so that we
can provide tools, techniques and methods for software
developers and interaction designers. In this case, our research focuses on both the commercial and international development domains.
Secondly, in order to overcome resistance to change, institutional and
governmental challenges need to be looked at so that new tools, techniques
and methods are actually implemented commercially.
