The Degree Apprenticeship team invited employers and apprentices to an Apprenticeship Social Event on Wednesday 13 September, hosted by in Savoy Suite at the St Mary’s Road campus.

The new UWL apprentices, with their employers and mentors, were welcomed to the event by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Anthony Woodman, who explained how degree apprenticeships are congruent with the mission and values of the University of West London.

The higher and degree apprenticeships have been developed by employers to meet the needs of business, to help improve productivity and innovation as well as attract new employees and develop existing ones.

The Associate Head Degree Apprenticeships Janet Rowson thanked employers for their support and their commitment to the apprenticeship programme as partners of UWL.

The event shared an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the course teams as well as meet the interim Dean of the Claude Littner Business School, Suresh Gamlath together with Professor Amir Alani, the Head of Computing and Science.

Businesses on board with degree apprenticeships range from local businesses to large international employers including Virgin Media and Pladis Global.

This is the second year of the UWL Higher and Degree apprenticeship programme which includes:

  • Data Analyst Level 4
  • Cyber Security Level 4
  • Assistant practitioner (Health/Dementia care) Level 5
  • Charted Manager Degree Apprenticeship Level 6
  • IT professional Level 6
