Student finalist in Dolmio & Uncle Ben's Foodservice Student Catering Challenge
BSc Culinary Arts Management student Jun Au has been selected as a finalist in the 'Dolmio® & Uncle Ben's® Foodservice Student Catering Challenge'. The competition encourages young chefs to showcase their talents and creativity.
Jun Au will attend the live cook-off final where each student will have 60 minutes to prepare and cook their selected dishes in front of the judging panel. Students will be judged on their preparation and hygiene, workmanship, presentation and taste and flavour.
The winners will be announced later in the day for each of the dishes: 'Best Starter', 'Best Main Course' and 'Best Dessert ' – as chosen by Aimia Foods – together with a special award for the 'Overall Best Menu'. The winner of each category will receive £200 of Nisbets vouchers to spend on professional catering equipment. The winner of 'Overall Best Menu' will receive £400 of Nisbets vouchers.
The cook-off final is on 23 January 2017 at the 'Great Hospitality Show' in Birmingham. The event is hosting a student centre with seminars about the hospitality industry and career advice. Any students wishing to attend can register online.
