University nominated for management excellence in the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards

The University of West London (UWL) is delighted to announce it has received two nominations in this year’s prestigious Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2017 (THELMAs).

The nominations are in the categories of ‘Outstanding Leadership and Management Team’ and ‘Outstanding Strategic Planning Team’.

UWL Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter John, said: ‘These nominations recognise the University’s excellent progress to date in delivering an ambitious strategic plan, well executed and underpinned by investment in infrastructure, academic staff and our curriculum. Ninety percent of the agreed Key Performance Indicators outlined in our strategic plan, Ambition 2018, have been achieved two years ahead of schedule.’

‘These achievements are testament to the dedication of all our staff and I would like to especially congratulate the nominated teams.’

UWL was the highest mover in the latest Times/Sunday Times League Table, jumping an unprecedented 37 places to 84th, making UWL the 14th highest ranked multi-mission university in London. Meanwhile, the University continues to get 96% of students in employment within six months of graduation, which is 4% better than the Higher Education Statistics Authority’s benchmark. UWL also remains in the top 30 for UK starting salaries.

The THELMAs shine a spotlight on innovation, teamwork and enterprise by the teams who work in the UK’s higher education institutions.

This year’s THELMAs ceremony takes place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, in central London, on 22 June.
