Child Health
If you want to work in an environment that's interesting, rewarding and challenging, a career in nursing is worth considering.
Children's nurses care for and support children of all ages who are suffering from many conditions.
Children's nurses deal with a range of situations, including babies born with heart complications, children and young people who have sustained broken limbs, and child protection issues.
Children's nurses also support the child's family.
The child branch programme is underpinned by the view that the child/young person is seen as a unique, developing individual who has the right to be cared for by knowledgeable, reflective and skilled child care practitioners, in negotiated partnerships with families and carers.
The structure and content of the child branch programme aims to develop knowledge and clinical practice to meet the demands of changes in health policy, new technology, innovations in child health practice and the move to care for children, whenever possible, in the community.
The programme will develop competent, confident practitioners who are able to meet the ever-changing needs of children and their families in society.
Unlike other degree programmes, nursing students from the UK/EU benefit from paid tuition fees and generous bursaries (this is dependent on students having an NHS funded place and meet residential regulations).
