UWL appoints Professor Joëlle Fanghanel as Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Academic Development and Scholarship

The University has appointed Professor Joëlle Fanghanel as Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic Development and Scholarship) and Head of the Graduate School.

Professor Fanghanel will lead strategic developments to engage all UWL staff in scholarship through discipline-based activity, creative engagement, cross-subject interaction, pedagogic research and policy based analysis. Driving the agenda beyond the University, she will assemble a structure to attract national and international scholars.

Professor Fanghanel will also lead the Graduate School and oversee the experience of PhD students and the University supervisory framework

Member of the Board of Governors and Visiting Professor celebrated at UWL colloquium

Academics from across the UK attended The Brown Colloquium to celebrate Professor Roger Brown, his research and his contribution to higher education.

Bringing together the authors of the Festschrift, Dimensions of Marketization in Higher Education, and a wider audience of delegates with an interest in Professor Roger Brown's work, the colloquium created an opportunity for dialogue and reflection on the Festschrift's themes.

Panel discussions included 'The economics of higher education', 'Students in a marketized environment', 'Marketization and pedagogies' and 'Universities futures' with panel members from across the UK's Higher Education sector.
