University of West London Christmas Wrap - 16 Nov – 18 Dec 2009
University of West London volunteers wrap and deliver donations from students and staff to people in the community facing a difficult Christmas through charity/voluntary organisations. Last year we wrapped and delivered over 150 hampers to the community.

National Student Volunteers Week - 22 – 28 Feb 2010
Take action week! University of West London Volunteers celebrate the work and effort of student volunteers through hosting a variety of volunteering activities in the local community. Last year students and staff took part in fundraising activities, painting and decorating for the elderly and volunteered for after school clubs.

University of West London Sports Challenge - 7 May 2010

The annual University fundraiser where staff and students go head to head in a sports day to raise money for the charity www.unitedthroughsport.org. Last year University of West London raised over £700 for charity with the students winning on the day and lifting the trophy!

Projects

Language project

Volunteers support primary and secondary children with language barriers in their learning. Volunteers work on a rota basis to help young people in schools, in the local area, improve their English and provide extra support in their studies.

Peer Mentoring project
Volunteers work with local youth offending teams. Volunteers mentor young offenders in a bid to raise aspirations and reduce the risk of reoffending through various mentoring activities.

Events Volunteers
University of West London volunteers organise and support an event volunteers group who help run events in the local community. These events range from fundraisers, celebration events, charity events and much more.

Media Volunteers
University of West London volunteers help the community benefit from the skills of media students and staff. Volunteers offer their time to community and voluntary groups seeking help with filming, editing, radio, journalism and website design.
 
Sports Volunteers
University of West London volunteers provide students and staff with the opportunity to gain coaching, refereeing, umpiring qualifications through volunteering in the local community. Volunteers give their time to coaching young people in the community while gaining these qualifications.
