What is a Student Ambassador?
Student Ambassadors work alongside the University's Education Liaison and Events teams, who are responsible for a wide range of activities:
Education Liaison team (activities mainly for 13 - 19 year olds)
- taster days
- university visits
- mentoring schemes
- summer short courses
- summer schools.
Events team
- higher education fairs
- open days
- induction and enrolment
- graduation and awards ceremonies
- corporate events.
Student Ambassadors will be given relevant training and will always work under supervision.
What does a Student Ambassador do?
After initial training, Student Ambassadors:
- facilitate small-group activities for school and college students, informing them about aspects of university life
- give tours of the University
- provide support to school and college students who may not be familiar with the concept of higher education
- inspire, motivate and act as a role model for school and college students
- welcome and provide general customer service to guests of the University (eg at Open Days)
- travel to schools, colleges and other venues across London
- serve food and drink
- represent the University at higher education fairs and promote the University's courses.
Once you become more experienced, you may have the opportunity to:
- prepare and give presentations to groups of school and college students
- become a mentor for a school or college student (or group of students)
- run workshops in your subject for school and college students
- use your specialist skills in another capacity (eg: produce a video).
