Queen Esther Mwizerwa

Tell us about yourself

My name is Queen Esther Mwizerwa, I'm a second year student at UWL, studying Airline and Airport Management. Growing up I really wanted to be an actual Queen but eventually I realised that that’s not how it works. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to study at uni because I was interested in more than one thing, and I've heard of people who start a course and then somewhere along the way they find out that it's not meant for them. I thank God that I chose a course I truly enjoy, at a great uni too, because I know how important it is to feel Queenlike you belong somewhere.

What do you love most about being a student at UWL?

I love the feeling I get when I walk through the entrance at uni. There is just this positive vibe that I can't explain and I never dread coming in. I feel like I am supported every step of the way especially with the student services being on the streets in an open space where you can just walk up to them and talk to them about anything without having to knock or even need an appointment.

Why did you want to become a vlogger?

I think being a vlogger is a lot of fun and I've always wanted to be active and involved in what goes on around in my university so this was the perfect opportunity.

What advice would you give to a new student just about to start uni?

I would tell them to relax. Before I came to uni I was so nervous as it was a whole new step in my life and a big one. I didn't know what to expect and I wondered if I would meet people that I had anything in common with, especially because I knew that during freshers everyone would be looking forward to going partying every night and I'm the stay in and watch three seasons of a TV series in one night - type of girl.

Dear new student: whatever you're feeling, whether its excitement or worry, you are not alone, there are so many other new students in the same boat as you and everything will be ok.
