Registering with a local doctors' Surgery

All students are advised to register with your local GP.

The local Ealing GP practices work closely with University of West London. There are a team of doctors practising at two sites in Ealing. One located at Bramley Road and the other at Florence Road (www.florenceroadsurgery.nhs.uk)

They aim to hold sessions at the Bramley Road Surgery exclusively for University of West London students on Monday afternoons 3pm - 5.30pm, and on Wednesday and Friday mornings 11am - 12 noon. Additionally University of West London students are also able to make appointments at Bramley Road Surgery on saturday mornings. The Surgery will always try to accommodate students who need appointments outside of the exclusive session times at either Bramley Road or Florence Road.
 
They are also able to provide students registered at the surgery, with emergency health care outside of the above hours, and are also members of Harmoni which is a local co-operative that provides out of hours services during the hours that they are closed.

Any student within the Boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith and Hounslow can register with either of the surgeries.

New patients are asked to supply their NHS medical card (if possible) and complete a form with their personal details along with a simple health questionnaire. 

You will be invited for a registration medical with a doctor or nurse.  At this time, the doctor or nurse will discuss any on-going medical problems you have, any regular medication you take and note details of any relevant family medical history.
 
The practice teams consist of trained medical staff - GPs, nurses and an administration team. There is a mixture of both male and female doctors and they will endeavour to accommodate your choice.
 

The services provided

• contraception
• sexual Health- including advice about the location of local STI clinics
• antenatal care
• minor surgery
• cryotherapy
• phlebotomy
• Well Woman Clinic
• travel vaccinations and travel advice (not a Yellow Fever Centre.)
• flu vaccinations to any student with relevant underlying health problems
• chronic disease management such as diabetes, and hypertension.

Also available are referrals to specialists at the hospital, social services, and to the University of West London Counselling Service.
