RSS iconThis icon is often used to show that there is an RSS feed available for the website you are visiting. It may appear on the page, and/or in the browser address bar.

How do I use it?

You need software called a 'news reader' (sometimes called an 'aggregator').

Some web browsers like Firefox, Opera and Safari have a built-in news reader, so you can just click on an RSS link to get started.

Some news readers are stand-alone, downloadable applications which run on your computer.

All of these allow you to display and subscribe to the RSS feeds you choose.

The BBC has a list of popular news readers.
