Students from both the University's London College of Music and School of Computing and Technology recently attended one of the most revered industry events in the calendar in Frankfurt.
The Frankfurt Musikmesse 2012 fair is one of the world's largest industry trade fairs for manufacturers and professional bodies representing music and sound engineering companies globally. London College of Music and the School of Computing and Technology have attended for a number of years, bringing students and staff closer to the industry.
The trip which took place on 21-24 March gave students the opportunity to speak to industry professionals, equipment and software manufacturers and musicians from all over the world. The experience enabled students to network with industry and try out new and prototype gear as well as spending some time exploring the city.
Some highlights from the trip included trying out the new Dave Hill Designs Titan compressor / limiter, the Charter Oak Acoustics PEQ-1 and the Tonelux and Valley People new 500 series rack modules. Students were able to experience the ultimate interactive music making tool called Reactable and one lucky University of Wes London student won £800 worth of Sonnox plug-ins after entering a competition.
