The University of West London’s annual Summer Showcase has been a huge success this year. 23, 24 and 25 May 2012 saw the University’s Ealing campus communal space ‘The Street’ transformed into an exhibition and performance space for third year students from the London College of Music and the Ealing School of Art, Design and media.
These students, who are about to graduate and start their careers have achieved a huge amount in their studies at the University and the Summer Showcase celebrated those achievements.
Songs from recent BA (Hons) Musical Theatre productions Flora the Red Menace and Company raised the roof whilst the atmosphere was calmed by a beautiful piano performance of Concert Etude No. 3 by Liszt from BMus (Hons) Performance student Boxuan Li.
Audiences were transfixed by the work of BA (Hons) Digital Animation and BA (Hons) Film students, which was beamed onto a huge screen. The work was both thought provoking and hugely entertaining.
Bellini’s La Sonnambula opera was honoured with a wonderful performance by BMus (Hons) Performance singers, and the London College of Music Jazz Trio together with the Jazz Vocal Ensemble lightened the atmosphere with a foot tapping performance of On the Sunny Side of the Street.
One of the highlights of the Showcase was the catwalk fashion show from BA (Hons) Fashion and Textiles students who are no doubt on their way to gracing the pages of Vogue.
