A University lecturer appointed to new innovative organisation

Wednesday 18 July 2012

A lecturer from the University's London College of Music, Dr. Simon Zagorski-Thomas, is one of the twenty international scholars who have been selected as a founding members of the newly formed European Sound Studies Association (ESSA).

The announcement of the foundation of ESSA was made on Friday 14 July 2012 and these scholars will form the committee behind the organisation.
The aim is to provide an international, interdisciplinary and interprofessional organisation for promoting the study of sound by providing a forum for knowledge exchange, for conferences, for research encouragement and development of projects, and for information.

ESSA was formed as a consequence of the tremendous growth in sound studies in diverse research cultures in Europe and worldwide. An interdisciplinary and international group of researchers connected by various research networks, conferences and workshops in the Nordic countries, in Germany and all over Europe, has initiated this international organisation with the aim of bringing together sound researchers and sound artists of all kinds.
