How the University works

European Social Fund

Did you know many of our courses for adults are supported by the European Social Fund (ESF)?

The European Union funds and co-funds some of University’s courses to develop workplace skills for those in the workplace and the unemployed.
Their aim is to:

  • improve employment opportunities
  • help raise standards of living
  • help people fulful their potential.

The ESF is devoted to promoting employment in the EU and making Europe's workforce and companies better equipped to face new, global challenges.

Their strategy and budget is negotiated and decided between the EU Member States, the European Parliament and the Commission. And once they have decided on their operational plans, it is then implemented through a wide range of institutions including The University of West London.
