Events are hugely important attractions for tourism and play a key role in the marketing of destinations. This course looks at the important role of the event manager as a part of the wider tourism industry.
We take advantage of our London location, giving you the opportunity to attend high-profile events and a variety of venues to gain exposure to the industry in action. As well as live event projects, you’ll learn through practical teaching such as case studies and team projects, to understand the fundamentals of event management.
Why choose this course?
You will learn marketing, human resources, entrepreneurship, risk and change management and accounting and finance to give you the grounding needed to understand the scope of practical planning for events. You will also study the travel and tourism sector with an understanding of planning and policy measures, as well as the impact of events for legacy and regeneration.
Our established links with event industry associations such as Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the Event and Visual Communication Association (EVCOM), the International Live Events Association (ILEA), and the Association for Events Management Education (AEME) gives you networking opportunities for work experience and career development.

With a core understanding of the intricacies of event management combined with tourism, and exposure to an array of events across London, you will gain transferable skills for a range of careers in international or UK events management.
You may also wish to undertake postgraduate study to specialise in a subject you’ve already studied, or to explore something new.

Your modules will give you the foundation needed for management-level roles, from operations and logistics to finance and marketing. The events and tourism industries are closely intertwined and you will learn how one feeds into the other during your year three modules.

112 UCAS tariff points from Level 3 qualifications.
These can include:
• A Levels at grade B, B and C, or above
• BTEC Extended Diploma with Distinction, Merit, Merit
• Access to HE Diploma
You also need GCSE English and Maths (grade 9 – 4 / A* - C) or Level 2 equivalents.
Mature applicants (aged 21+): If you do not hold the above qualifications but possess relevant work experience, you are invited to apply. Your application will be considered on an individual basis.
Level 5 entry
If you wish to enter directly at level 5 of this course you will be required to follow procedures in accordance with the university regulations. The demonstration of appropriate knowledge, competencies and relevant industrial experience is required and will be considered by the relevant university board. You are an ideal candidate for entry at this level if you have a 120 undergraduate credits at level 4 or a CertHE in a related subject area.
Level 6 entry
If you wish to enter directly at level 6 of this course you will be required to follow procedures in accordance with the university regulations. The demonstration of appropriate knowledge, competencies and relevant industrial experience is required and will be considered by the relevant university board. You are an ideal candidate for entry at this level if you have a 240 undergraduate credits (at level 4 and 5), a DipHE, Foundation Degree or HND in a related subject area.
International entry criteria
International students need to meet our English language requirement at either IELTS at 6.0 or above and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).

We also offer a range of scholarships and bursaries to help you. Scholarships in the 2017 - 18 academic year included:
- Full Time Undergraduate Bursary: a £3,000 award for new undergraduate students.
- Path to Success Scholarship: a £4,000 award for students on a four-year degree course with a foundation year.

Apply for this course at www.ucas.com when UCAS applications are open, from the previous September until June (see dates). You will need our institution code W05 and the UCAS code given on the right hand side of this page.

During the course
Our staff are a mixture of practitioners and academics, all of whom have considerable event management experience at both international and national level. This includes corporate travel planning with GlaxoSmithKline, corporate hospitality with Epsom Racecourse, Twickenham and Wimbledon, consultancy work with MPI, Business Director for Weddings, representative for cycling at the Atlanta Olympics and management of a host of gala, festival and fundraising events.
All our staff are currently actively engaged with industry, each running their own events each year. In addition we can boast excellent academic profiles with a National Teaching Fellow, Master in Teaching and Learning, publication of ground breaking text book, contributions to essential event management textbooks and publication of research articles in major academic event journals
