Federal Direct Loan Program for American Applicants

Federal Direct Loans are low-interest loans to help students pay for their education.

Direct Loans are provided by the US government and are available to US citizens, US permanent residents and eligible non-citizens. To apply for these loans you will need to have firmly accepted an unconditional offer to study at the University of West London.

Financial support for disabled students

We are committed to supporting all our disabled students - please get in touch with us to discuss support.

The Reasonable Adjustment Fund is designed to contribute towards additional academic-related costs you may have as a result of your disability. A Disability Adviser will assess your individual needs before support is arranged.

We are unable to fund any non-study support costs arising because of a disability so these costs will need to be met by you or another source of funding.

Opening a bank account

You will need a UK bank account to pay your tuition fees, pay bills and receive wages from employers, if you are eligible to work.

The University of West London's preferred bank is Barclays and we have made arrangements with them so you can open an account without having to go into the bank in person, as the whole process can be now done online. This does not restrict you from using other banks, however they may require you to visit the bank to open an account.

To apply for a new bank account at Barclays, please visit the Barclays website.

You will need:

  • a valid passport.
  • a University letter – that can be accessed via MyRegistry under the My Studies section.
  • if you are living off-campus, you must provide a tenancy agreement which must be dated and signed by you and the landlord.
  • the BRP card - if you have one.
