Study Abroad programme

We welcome students from other institutions to study with us for one or two semesters.

It’s your opportunity to experience studying in London while also obtaining credits which may potentially be used towards your degree at your home institution.

If you would like to be considered for Study Abroad simply complete our application form (doc, 70kb) and email it to, along with copies of the required documents. Please view the guidance, notes and terms (pdf, 252kb) to help you with your application. 

Here's a handy step by step guide on how to apply:

  1. Contact to indicate your interest in studying at UWL and your intended area of study
  2. Obtain permission from your home institution to study abroad
  3. Pick the modules you would like to take
  4. Obtain approval from home institution for module selections
  5. Submit an study abroad application form (doc, 70kb) to UWL's International Office

Please note that if you are applying via a partner institution, you will need to contact your local contact for further information on how to apply, as the process may differ. 

Application Deadline

To be considered for admission onto UWL's Study Abroad course, please be aware of the following application deadlines*:

*We will consider applications after the above deadlines, but can only guarantee a place if space is available. 

Entry requirements 

Students applying for Study Abroad course would typically be expected to have the following entry profile:

  • Have studied for at least a year at their home University.
  • Be enrolled at their home University for the duration of their period of Study Abroad.
  • Minimum of a US GPA of 2.80 or equivalent accepted by UWL.
  • IELTS 6.0 or above for non-native English speakers and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).

The fee does not include accommodation. 


Accommodation is guaranteed at a fixed rate for Study Abroad students if accommodation bookings are made and confirmed by 30 June in each year prior to commencement of Semester 1 (Autumn Semester)

Accommodation is guaranteed at a fixed rate for Study Abroad students if accommodation bookings are made and confirmed by 30 October in each year prior to the commencement of Semester 2 (Spring Semester)

Please note that after these deadlines the University will be unable to guarantee accommodation for Study Abroad students and will work with Study Abroad students on a case by case basis to see what can be secured. Please be advised that depending on options the University may find, this could influence accommodation rates. More information on accommodation can be found here.
