  • How did you learn about the University of West London?

From the moment I stumbled upon UWL during my UK university search, I was drawn to the MA Advertising, Branding and Communications course. Having completed my undergraduate degree in Business Administration in Nigeria ten years ago and having had over five years of work experience in social media management and marketing, I was eager to further my studies and expand my skillset within this dynamic programme. The MA programme in Advertising, Branding, and Communication at the University of West London immediately caught my eye, with its strong industry connections and practical, up-to-date approach to teaching."

  • What attracted you to apply to study with us?

Drawing from my experience developing and implementing social media strategies, I understand the importance of crafting compelling brand identities and engaging consumers and target audiences across platforms. That is why I have found the modules offered in this course including Advertising, Branding, Innovation and Research for the Creative Industries, to be well-suited to helping me improve these skillsets. However, what truly sealed the deal was the chance to work directly on live client briefs for companies in the creative industries. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to build my portfolio and make industry connections right in the heart of the vibrant, multicultural city of London."

  • What are your initial impressions of the University?

Since being accepted onto the programme, my initial impressions confirmed that I made a fantastic choice to study at the University of West London. The lecturers, with substantial expertise gained working for advertising agencies and international organisations, offer unique perspectives informed by the latest industry trends. I have appreciated the demands of thinking creatively and critically while working independently and collaboratively with my classmates. The weekly assignments have allowed me to develop my learning agility. The diversity of classmates from across the globe has created a refreshing learning environment where we discuss ideas and respect each other's viewpoints."

  • What reflections do you have on the programme after the first month of teaching?

True to its career-focused reputation, UWL has connected me with abundant professional development resources through its student hub and I have taken advantage of what the University has offered so far. At the recent part-time jobs fair, I landed a role with a company in the hospitality sector.

As I progress through the programme over the next year, I look forward to continuously developing practical skills that will allow me to become a well-rounded communications strategist and specialise in advertising and branding. I am proud to be here at UWL and happy with my start to life in London."
