Celebrations have rung out across Twickenham Stadium today in the last day of a week of UWL graduation ceremonies.

Delighted graduates from across the University’s hospitality, tourism, computing, and engineering courses all joined together to collect their awards and celebrate with family and friends in the final day of ceremonies on Friday.

The celebrations mark the end of years of hard work during some of the most testing times for students, with many going above and beyond to support the Covid-19 pandemic efforts and working hard to continue their education during lockdown.

Graduands from courses at UWL’s School of Computing and Engineering, and the London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism were the final groups to be presented with awards at the iconic stadium, and marking the start of their own career in a host of industries.

During the day, honorary degrees were also presented to aviation expert Jane Middleton – who has helped women and young people carve out careers in the industry - and Dermot Blastland, former managing director of TUI Holidays in the UK and Ireland.

Also, to inspiring civil engineer Gordon Harris who has contributed to some of the UK’s major infrastructure projects while working to support the next generation into the field.

Professor Anthony Woodman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UWL, said:

We extend the warmest congratulations to all our graduates today. They are all truly inspiring and inspirational and have worked so hard over the past few years under what have been incredibly challenging circumstances.

We know that they will all go on to do great and inspiring things as they join our global network of graduates to make a major difference to the world and people around them – and we wish them all the best in their careers."
