Business students enjoyed the opportunity to quiz the head of marketing at one of the most popular premium chocolatiers in the UK during a special guest lecture.

Sarah Horowitz of Pladis UK – which manufactures Godiva chocolates - presented to final-year BA Business Studies undergraduates in UWL’s William Barry lecture theatre last week, about how the company devises smart marketing campaigns which help the company to grow its share of the market.

One of the distinguishing features of the Claude Littner Business School’s degree programmes is that students are set assignments based upon real-world cases, meaning they had plenty of questions for Sarah, while they formulate recommendations for the company on how to improve its positioning in the domestic chocolate market.

Sara Horowitz, head of marketing at Pladis UK, said: ‘It was fantastic to meet the students, who are really engaged in the work. They had so many questions and it’s clear they had done their research. We do a lot of activity dedicated to encouraging new talent and talking with this group from the University of West London was inspiring.’

Dr Mathew Todres said: ‘This has been a unique opportunity for our students to engage with a real-life strategic challenge and they have responded extremely well. Many thanks to Sarah and Pladis UK for giving our students this authentic experience of engaging in a real-world business scenario for their course work.’
