University of West London is named the best modern university in London
The University of West London has been named the best modern university in London in this year's Guardian university league table.
The publication of the year’s Guardian University league table underlines the remarkable progress of the University of West London placing the University as the best modern university in London.
*Modern universities are defined as higher education institutions that were granted university status in, and subsequent to, 1992. UWL received the rankings listed above when compared to all other modern universities ranked in the guides / surveys cited.
The Guardian ranked the University in its best ever position based on its impressive results in last year's National Student Survey (NSS), its record on graduate employability and the quality of teaching experienced by students. In fact, the University of West London moved up an astonishing 13 places from last year, according to The Guardian’s league table.
This year's league table position provides yet more evidence of the University’s improved reputation and standing. Earlier this year, the University saw a 20% increase in undergraduate UCAS applications when many other universities saw a significant decrease in the numbers of students applying.
The University has also recently been shortlisted in this year’s prestigious Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards, in an impressive three categories: Outstanding Leadership and Management team, Outstanding Finance team and Outstanding Procurement team.
Commenting on this year's Guardian University League Table, Professor Kathryn Mitchell, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Student Services), said:
