UWL wins two THELMA nominations for second year in a row
The University is delighted to announce that for the second year running it has won nominations for awards in two categories at the prestigious Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2018 (THELMAs).
'Outstanding Financial Performance' and 'Outstanding Employer Engagement Strategy' are the awards for which UWL is shortlisted this year.
Welcoming the twin nominations, Professor Peter John, UWL Vice-Chancellor, said: ‘These nominations recognise the excellent performance of key teams which make up the UWL community.
'Our nomination for ‘Outstanding Employer Engagement Strategy’ is testament to our mission to provide students with high quality, career focused education closely linked to the world of work. UWL has delivered a truly outstanding performance in employability - among the very best in the country – as a result of embedding employer engagement and the World of Work throughout the institution. Consequently, 97.1% of our students are in work or further education within six months of graduating.
'Meanwhile, our strong financial performance has allowed for significant investment in our campuses, new technologies and state-of-the-art facilities, which is reflected in the nomination for Outstanding Financial Performance.'
UWL is ranked as the top modern University in London in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 and is rated as the best modern university in London for overall satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2017.
Last year UWL enjoyed brilliant success at the THELMAs, winning the top prize of 'Outstanding Leadership and Management Team.'
