Westmont Enterprise Hub hosts inspiring event celebrating local businesses
The University of West London (UWL) hosted a celebration event last night for small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) based in Ealing, in its newly opened Westmont Enterprise Hub, an incubator space for entrepreneurs and start-ups.
The attendees were successful participants of the Business Support Programme, delivered by the London Borough of Ealing in association with Branduin Business Support, and were all awarded certificates. The programme gave local SMEs the opportunity to receive fully funded training and mentoring, helping them to enhance their businesses.
The Westmont Enterprise Hub provided the perfect setting for the inspiring event, which was attended by Professor Peter John, UWL Vice-Chancellor; Councillor Julian Bell, Leader of Ealing Council; Councillor Tony Clements, Director of Housing and Regeneration, Ealing Council and Stephen Fry, Executive Director of the Westmont Enterprise Hub.
Welcoming guests to the Westmont Enterprise Hub, Professor Peter John said ‘Innovation and entrepreneurship are two of UWL’s strengths and our goal here at the Westmont Enterprise Hub is to accelerate business incubation in the community and be an engine for economic growth and development. So it is a great privilege to be able to celebrate local businesses in our community here this evening’.
Councillor Bell congratulated the participants of the programme and complemented the University on its newest campus facility – the Westmont Enterprise Hub, describing it as a ‘fantastic resource for businesses and students.’
Stephen Fry, Executive Director of the Westmont Enterprise Hub said: ‘It’s inspiring to see the quality of entrepreneurial activity that’s happening across West London. And we, at the Westmont Enterprise Hub, were delighted to host this special celebratory event.’
The Westmont Enterprise Hub, which is now recruiting for its January 2019 intake, is an incubator - ‘an ideas factory’ - offering entrepreneurs and start-ups the space and support to develop creative business ideas – nurturing them through the process of building their companies from the ground up.
