Congratulations to all new UWL graduates

With Summer graduations now complete here’s a look back at three glorious days of awards which took place at the iconic Twickenham Rugby Stadium from Wednesday 24 July to Friday 26 July and were a moment of proud celebration for everyone at the University of West London.

Thousands of well-dressed graduands were rewarded for all their hard work as they received their degrees from UWL’s nine Schools and Colleges in front of family and friends.
Across the three days, the University also presented a total of thirteen inspiring figures from the world of business, science, education, music, and entertainment with honorary degrees in recognition of their achievements. They are:
President and CEO of Marriott International Anthony Capuano (Honorary Doctor of Letters) for inspiring and motivating students at the London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism with his passion for the industry.
Founder of the Tech Start apprenticeship programme Sam Liu (Honorary Doctor of Business Administration) for sharing UWL's passion for inclusion and social mobility and his work ensuring local young people, whatever their background, can access opportunities.
Senior Manager at NatWest Chris Gallant (Honorary Doctor of Business Administration) for supporting Claude Littner Business School students through industry and career talks, mentoring, and facilitating industry visits.
Pioneering IT specialist Annette Haworth (Honorary Doctor of Science) for serving as an exemplar for ‘women in tech’ and particularly School of Computing and Engineering students.
Director of Systems and Engineering for the Spectrum Group at UK telecommunications regulator Ofcom Armelle Boisset (Honorary Doctor of Science) for collaborating with faculty and students at the School of Computing and Engineering.
Senior Consultant Legal Director Lee John Charles CBE (Honorary Doctor of Laws), a UWL alumnus who seeks to impress upon students at the School of Law the need for good lawyers in government and other forms of practice.
Former Chief Information Officer at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Jean Sykes MBE (Honorary Doctor of Letters), who is an inspiration for women in leadership.
Chief Executive of Nubian Life Resource Centre, Jazz Browne (Honorary Doctor of Letters), who has worked with the College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare and the Geller Institute of Ageing and Memory to give vulnerable people within marginalised communities a voice.
Leader, executive coach and mentor and social investment adviser Augustine John (Honorary Doctor of Letters), who is a source of inspiration for UWL students and staff.
Ivor Novello award-winning, GRAMMY and BAFTA nominated composer for film, television and video games, Richard Jacques (Honorary Doctor of Music), who has conducted insightful composition workshops with London College of Music students about how to forge careers in the industry.
Professor of Pharmaceutical Nanoscience at University College London (UCL) Ijeoma Uchegbu (Honorary Doctor of Science), for being a role model to Black women at the School of Medicine and Biosciences and worldwide.
Corps Colonel for The Royal Corps of Army Music Simon Haw MBE (Honorary Doctor of Music), who has worked with staff at the London College of Music to devise new courses.
British playwright Tanika Gupta MBE (Honorary Doctor of Letters) who through her storytelling, has left an indelible mark on the world of theatre and beyond, inspiring our students to use their voices for positive change.
