The session was for a project for Rock Choir, the award-winning choir experience created by Caroline, which offers local weekly rehearsals, performances, and events to more than 400 communities across the UK.
Caroline and Kip worked with UWL’s London College of Music (LCM) Studio Manager Valerie Cray and Audio Technician Ivan Williams on the initial recordings and song structures for a ‘100 voices’ project for Rock Choirs around the country. They will be back at the studios in April 2025 to do some more recording.
Caroline was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters by the London College of Music in July 2017 to honour her contribution to music education and her creation of Rock Choir.
We were delighted to host Caroline and Kipper at Paragon Annex Studios, where they recorded guide vocals for their upcoming Rock Choir album,”
said LCM Studio Manager Valerie Cray.
It was a pleasure to witness their energy and professionalism, and it was enjoyable hearing Christmas tunes being produced in the middle of summer! We look forward to collaborating with them again in the future.”
Danny Hagan, Head of Subject for Music Technology and Music Management at UWL, said:
I’m talking to Kip about coming back in the new semester to lead a masterclass with our students about the role of the music producer,”
Head of Subject for Music Performance Dr Liz Pipe is also talking to Caroline about a potential book launch.
Kip, who has won both Grammy and Emmy awards for his work, commented:
We had a productive time with two songs. Ivan was fantastic, and it was great meeting Valerie. What a lovely crew UWL have!
My hope is that through collaboration we can tap into the transformative and unifying force of music and create a more harmonious world.”
Director of LCM Professor Nicholas McKay said:
It was a real pleasure to welcome Caroline and Kip to LCM and to be able to contribute to the incredible Rock Choir community project across the UK.
Widening participation in music making across the country is central to LCM’s core values. The success of Rock Choir epitomises this shared focus on opening access to music for all. We look forward to further collaboration and interaction with our students on their return visits.”
