Biography:

 

Professor Rizzuto has considerable industrial and academic experience.

He has worked on a wide variety of schemes with consulting engineers and contractors both in the UK and overseas. His most recent roles have included Head of Department of Civil Engineering and Associate in industry. He has been the main leader of taught design modules for civil engineering structural design on undergraduate and postgraduate Civil Engineering degree programmes and has been main coordinator and supervisor for the 'Constructionarium' residential field activity.

Professor Rizzuto has nine years' experience as an external examiner on undergraduate and postgraduate civil engineering degree programmes. He has extensive experience of accreditation events and being an external advisor for re-approval and review of undergraduate and postgraduate Civil Engineering Degree programme provisions. He has programme leadership experience, development of new courses for the common engineering and science curriculum.

He is a reviewer for journal and book publishers and has broad experience of research degree supervisions and examinations. His research interests include applications of mutually supported elements in space structure systems, numerical modelling using global and finite element analysis, experimental investigations in space structures structural behaviour, behaviour of concrete ground supported slabs, masonry arch bridges and vaults, Structural Design methods, applications and behaviour of cross-laminated timber in building structures and soil-structure interaction.
