J. Daniel was already a professional DJ at 14 at the top clubbing spot in the capital. As the youngest DJ in Lisbon's nightlife his career was beginning to reach National acclaim. The turn of 90’s saw J.Daniel becoming responsible for the initial import, Distribution, Management and commercial promotion of the Dance Music department within the largest and most successful record outlets in the country.

By now J.Daniel was an A&R associate and owner of Question of Time Independent Record label. From this he went on to prepare his first release.

In November of ’94, he organised a national tour, promoting of the opening of his club, the legendary CLIMACZ as a resident DJ where he played 8-hour sets. His first track QOT001 The Way was released and this saw him embarking on a new Radio show at the prestigious XFM.

J.Daniel put together and DJ’d a live set for Kiss FM UK and then continued with the promotion of other artists on his label and his weekly commitment to his club CLIMACZ which was impacting the National and International dance music scene. CLIMACZ was acclaimed as one of the top 10 underground clubs in the World. Bush Records signed & released his original track and the remixed version of 'The Way' made by artist Justin Robinson (BUSH1027) was released. 'To Eden' was released shortly afterwards. This went to number one on the Spanish Dance charts and took the Ibiza dance floors by storm. Reaching Number 10 in the German Dance charts, this single was released through Polygram/Motor Music.

J. Daniel enabled the law to be reconsidered by the French governing body for music rights, stating that DJ's could be considered as artists in their own right. This shift in the law changed, not only in Portugal but on an international basis as compilation albums mixed by DJ's could, for the first time, be considered as an artist. For this act of defiance, he was awarded Portuguese Personality of the Year. Later that year he was back in the studio again, this time remixing all the major Portuguese artists of BMG.

Over the last six years J. Daniel’s tracks have appeared on 42 compilations. The electronic productions he originated 20 years ago continue to be played in contemporary night clubs, making the work of DJ J. Daniel a piece of timeless art. He continues to push the boundaries of dance music beyond the conventional as an artist, encouraging those around him as well as himself to think outside of the box and envisage the potential sonic possibilities over the horizon. It could be expressed that J. Daniel is rare breed.

J. Daniel relocated to the UK, has since completed a degree in music and now enjoys his time at the Junior College teaching Music Technology and the DJ Academy as well as elsewhere in London.
