Judy Proctor was a Junior Exhibitioner at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama before moving to London to study at the Royal Academy of Music. Judy has extensive orchestral experience playing both Principal and Sub Principal Oboe and Cor Anglais with many of the major UK Symphonic, Chamber, Opera and Ballet orchestras as well as having a keen interest in Contemporary Ensemble music playing. She is the resident soloist with The Keld Ensemble and has played ‘Quiet City’ May 2011, Marcello Oboe Concerto in D minor and Bach Double Concerto for Violin and Oboe in C minor with them April 2014.
In June 2011 she attended the Carolyn Hove (Cor Anglais with the Los Angeles Philharmonic) 6th Annual Masterclass in Columbus, Georgia USA where she gave the US premiere of the solo piece for Cor Anglais ‘Billingbear’ by Judith Bingham.
Judy plays Cor Anglais with the Lonarc Oboe Trio which was founded in 1993 with Joseph Sanders and James Horan. They reformed in 2007 with Owen Dennis playing 2nd Oboe. They are currently in the process of recording all the early Oboe Trios written at the end of the 18th century by Bohemian composer working principally around Vienna. Lonarc Oboe Trio Publishing was launched in December 2014 and has published the first 8 (of 20) of James Horan’s arrangements for Oboe Trio. A keen chamber musician Judy is also a member of the Lonarc Wind Quintet with Julian Sperry (Flute), Jane Calderbank (Clarinet), Stuart Russell (Bassoon) and Julian Faultless (Horn) and the Lonarc Wind Ensemble. Judy has taught at Winchester College, Benenden School, St Benedicts and SCYM and worked as Oboe Tutor with the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra and Muscat Royal Philhamronic Orchestra for 2012-14.
