Studying at UWL

The University of West London's degree courses span a range of disciplines from musical theatre and nursing to accounting and graphic design. We have invested over £150 million into our West London campus so students will get to experience fantastic facilities, in and out of lectures.

  • Blast radio studios

    Blast Radio is a studio used for teaching and learning, and the student-run Blast Radio station. It broadcasts from our state-of-the-art radio studios that simulate contemporary and commercial radio operations. 

  • the Heart Space

    The Heart Space is located at the centre of our Ealing campus. The open-plan area serves food throughout the day and is the hub for the entire building.

  • Empty Mock Court room

    The Mock Court Room is used for trial skills, mooting competitions and other practical exercises. The authentic facility gives UWL students a realistic experience of life in the court room, especially demonstrating their skills when presenting arguments to the judge and jury.

  • People being served in a restaurant

    Pillars is our award-winning training restaurant where students cook and serve delicious foods and drink from around the world. It is a specially designed environment where students learn the art of fine service and culinary practices.

  • Chef preparing lunch before it's served

    The lunch served at Feast is made by our catering students. The food on offer includes fresh salad, pasta, soup, a varied hot menu and vegetarian options as well as desserts.

  • Freddie's bar by the SU

    Freddie's Bar is the place for pool, hot lunches, relaxing, quizzes and live bands. The bar is situated by Freddie's Coffeehouse and the gym.

  • An empty audotorium

    Weston Hall is our 240-seater auditorium, which can be split into two different performance spaces. 

  • A choir performing in theatre

    The state-of-the-art Weston Hall has played host to music concerts, theatre productions, talks and lectures and exhibitions.

  • Book shelves in the Paul Hamlyn library

    The Paul Hamlyn Library can be accessed 24/7, has over 2km of book shelving, contains 780 study spaces and a self-service checkout for books and publications.

  • People using Apple Macs in the Paul Hamlyn library

    Students can use one of 150 computers or 27" Apple iMacs across the library's four floors.

Our Ealing campus on St Mary’s Road is situated in a friendly and suburban part of London that is within walking distance of bars and clubs, parks, restaurants and Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre. 

The Paragon site on Boston Manor Road in Brentford is close to the historic Syon Park, beautiful Kew Gardens and the River Brent, which leads to the Thames.   

Both areas:

•    boast local parks and green spaces for days out, sport and more. Some of these sites also host food, jazz and comedy festivals
•    are close to businesses and organisations we have strong connections with, such as the Middlesex Law Society and the BBC 
•    are commutable to central London in less than 30 minutes and London Heathrow Airport in 20- 35 minutes.

There are good media job opportunities around West London and you will be a stones throw away from central London.

There is plenty of entertainment and nightlife on offer near our Berkshire Institute for Health. There are also two large shopping centres and a variety of restaurants to try.

The Reading campus is within walking distance of the main railway station, which connects you to other major UK cities and is a 30 minute journey away from London.

Scholarships and bursaries

There are a number of scholarships and bursaries open to new and current students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. These discounts vary from University-wide bursaries to school-specific scholarships. Our Undergraduate Bursary scheme consists of a £3,000 award for undergraduate students who are starting their course in January 2018. 

Bursaries and scholarships also run across the eight different schools for prospective and current students. These discounts range anywhere from £500 to £4,250.

Student support

Starting university can be daunting, that’s why we are here to help you during your time with us.

Before you even begin life at UWL we can support you with advice on funding and accommodation. Throughout your time at the University you will have access to mentoring sessions, your own personal tutor and support from the students’ advice team. 

The Wellbeing Team provides confidential assistance for disabled students that ranges from alternative exam arrangements to dyslexia tutors. Find out more about the service and how to register.


To help our international students feel right at home from the day they arrive we offer drop-in sessions regarding immigration matters, an orientation programme, a University preparation course and financial advice and guidance.
