Finding e-books

Narrow your results

You’ll see available results sorted by relevance.

You can use the filters on the left-hand side to narrow your search to full-text online and books/e-books only.

E-books appear in the results list with an orange banner that says “online”.

You will also see a link that reads “eBook: Full text online”. This link takes you to the platform providing access to the e-book.

Enter your details

After clicking the “Full text online” link, you need to provide your Username and Password before you are granted access.

Use your student number and student portal password. If you are a member of staff, use your usual UWL username and password.

Using e-books

Using e-books

E-books are available via two main databases, learn more about using each one to get the best out of them.

  • VLebooks (Askews and Holts)

Some e-books are supplied through Askews and Holts using VLebooks. You can find and use them as described above.

Find out more about using e-books on this platform.

  • Ebook central (ProQuest)

Other e-books are provided via ProQuest using Ebook Central.

We recommend using Firefox or Google Chrome to access these e-books. A free Adobe ID is required to transfer the book to another device.

With Ebook Central, you can download individual book chapters. Depending on licences, some e-books do not have copy, print and download limitations.

The Ebook Central support page provides some tips and instructions for using their ebooks.
