Our general entry requirements are set out below. Please also check our country specific pages to find out what qualifications you will need from your country, to meet our entry requirements.

Undergraduate courses

Your ability to succeed and benefit from your chosen course is the University’s first concern when setting its entry requirements.

We accept applications from individuals with a wide range of qualifications which correspond to the UK 13-year education system eg A-levels. 

Alternatively, students may have an opportunity to enter the second or third year of a degree if the qualification they studied is higher than an A-level, eg a Higher National Diploma (HND).

The University also considers applicants with other qualifications, including approved access to Higher Education (HE) courses, Open University credits and various professional qualifications.

To enter a degree course, you must satisfy or expect to meet our general requirements for entry, as well as the specific entry requirements for your chosen course. You should also visit the Your Country information pages, which will explain the level of study and grades we accept from your country.

Postgraduate courses

To study a postgraduate course with us, you must meet the conditions below, as well as the specific entry requirements for your chosen course. 

You should also visit the Your Country information pages, which will explain the level of study and grades we accept from your country.

You must have, as a minimum, one of the following:

  • an honours degree from any university in the UK or Republic of Ireland
  • an honours degree from an approved institution of higher education outside the UK and the Republic of Ireland, please visit the Your Country information pages
  • a recognised equivalent professional qualification

Please note work experience may be required for some postgraduate courses.

International students will need to meet our English language requirement.
