Leo Burnett ad agency open their doors to UWL students for a day
First and second year advertising and PR students spent the day with leading ad agency Leo Burnett, as part of the Advertising Unlocked industry initiative organised by The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (The IPA) on September 29 2017.
Students took part in discussions, learnt about different roles in the industry and went on a tour of the agency. They also gained the chance to work on a live brief for McDonald's, along with creatives who are currently working on the same brief. Students created a concept and pitched ideas to senior creatives.
Matthew Malloy, a first year student said, "This has been a really enjoyable eye opener into the profession and the chance to work on a brief with agency creatives has been invaluable."
Daniya Kayani, also a first year student added, "This is my first visit to an agency and the exposure has made me even more sure that this is an industry I'd like to be involved in."
The opportunity for the UWL placement was organised by The Ideas Foundation, one of the partner organisations for the open day. It was set up to inspire creativity in young people by giving them a chance to work on real life business problems with leading figures in the industry.
