Clearing 2017: Financial help for students makes a difference

UWL offers a range of bursaries and scholarships so that students can make a great investment in their futures by applying to join a course via Clearing.

Widening access to higher education is at the heart of UWL’s mission. A higher than average proportion of our students come from social groups which continue to be under-represented at universities.

To help put studying at the UWL within reach of everyone, there are 40 types of bursaries and scholarships available.

Prospective undergraduate students planning to start this September or in January 2018 can access UWL’s Full Time Undergraduate bursary. This consists of a £3,000 award payable over three academic years. The offer consists of £1,000 per academic year towards the cost of study, including the cost of learning materials, catering outlets, accommodation and transport costs.

The Path to Success Scholarship is for prospective students applying for a four-year degree course with a foundation year. It comprises a £4,000 cash award payable in four instalments over two academic years – £2,000 per academic year.

Also available from UWL is the Top-Up Bursary, worth £3,000. All new Home/EU students who join in September 2017 onto Level 6 of a full-time undergraduate top-up degree. The scholarship consists of a £3,000 award payable in three £1,000 instalments.

Home students may also be eligible for a Maintenance Loan to cover the costs of study.

Full-time home/EU undergraduate student starting a programme in 2017-18, who pay the £9,250 fee should be eligible for the Aspire Bursary. Full time students will receive £100 each year throughout their studies for up to 3 years.
