Cooking up a storm for Zest Quest Asia 2017

Three students will be competing in Zest Quest Asia 2017

Three of our level 5 students, all studying BSc Culinary Arts Management, have been selected as finalists for Zest Quest Asia 2017.

Zest Quest Asia is a competition designed to test technical expertise, creativity, knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Asian cuisine. The teams are made up of three students and one lecturer.

Junhay Au, Oliver Foxall and Sarah Hicks, accompanied by lecturer, Nathan Vasanthan will compete in the cook-off on Monday 13 February 2017 at the Hilton, London Heathrow. They'll have a maximum of two hours to produce a three course meal for two, from recipes and working methods supplied by the competitor. They'll be judged on the following criteria:

  • Flavour / taste
  • Authenticity
  • Presentation
  • Waste management
  • Working methods
  • Workmanship, confidence and professionalism
  • Hygiene
  • Timings

They'll also be required to deliver a 10 minute presentation on their chosen Asian menu.

The winning team will be offered the opportunity of a lifetime to embark on a culinary study tour to an Asian destination.
