UWL joint first in London for graduate employment
Figures released by the Higher Education Statistics Agency show that 96.1% of UWL graduates were in employment or further study six months after graduating.
The figures reinforce UWL’s position as London’s Career University, joint first with King’s College London out of all universities in London for graduate employment*.
UWL is placed in the top 20 universities in the country for graduate employment, 2.3% above the average for English universities of 93.8% and outperforming the employability rates of all Russell Group institutions.
In addition, HESA calculates a benchmark, which is an expected position taking into account factors such as subject mix, entry qualifications, ethnicity and gender. UWL has exceeded this benchmark by 3.9% - one of only 7 universities in the UK to do so. This is the 11th year in succession that UWL has exceeded its benchmark, showing that UWL’s performance is consistently stronger than expected given the profile of our student body.
Part-time first degree graduates also perform extremely strongly at 99%, top modern university in London and 12th university in England.
*Modern universities are defined as higher education institutions that were granted university status in, and subsequent to, 1992. UWL received the rankings listed above when compared to all other modern universities ranked in the guides / surveys cited.
Professor Peter John, Vice-Chancellor of the University of West London, said, ‘These figures reveal that yet again UWL is a top university in the country for graduate employment. This is down to our degree programmes developed with the job market in mind, impressive links with industry and career-focussed teaching from experts in their fields. New practical courses developed with society’s needs in mind will enhance our offer further, giving our students the competitive edge to develop rewarding careers.’
