Nurse taking on opportunities to secure future in digital health

Heading for a strong future transforming the NHS, a nurse is expanding her options in digital health thanks to postgraduate study at UWL.

Healthcare professional, Monika Thapa, is halfway through a Health Informatics MSc where she’s gaining all the skills needed to join the future of digital health.

She’s not only throwing herself into her year-long course at UWL, but expanding her own skills by working two days a week as a healthcare assistant for an NHS Trust alongside her studies.

I am learning how to help digitise the healthcare system, it is something I am so interested in and an area I want to work in after graduating,

I have already been able to get a job as a healthcare assistant so I can work alongside my course and understand UK healthcare systems."

For Monika, who qualified as a nurse in her home of Nepal before coming to London, the experience is helping her build a strong future in the NHS.

I have always wanted to study in London and am loving every day here at UWL. To see the differences in healthcare from what we do in India is so interesting, and I really am learning every day.

The MSc is opening up my opportunities, and I have had so much help from the UWL Careers Team to build my CV and prepare for interviews.

There are so many opportunities here, and I recommend all students make the most of every guest lecture and event to learn every day.

I am so happy to have so much support and cannot wait to finish my course and put it all to use as I start my career."
