Shamini first joined UWL (previously Thames Valley University) in 2002. She is an alumni of the University. Prior to lecturing she worked as a financial controller and company secretary and has frequent industry secondment to ensure accountancy education meets industry requirements. In the past she has held many roles in the HE sector, including programme leader.

As Education Manager of a leading UK payroll training company, Shamini has experience of e-learning platforms and work based qualifications. Her online education experience spans decades, and not just with the advent of the COVID pandemic, mainly when she worked with BPP publishers and Learn Payroll. Her other educational expertise includes being examiner for A Levels and AAT. She also has extensive experience as a vocational assessor and standards verifier for RQF qualifications. She is an ardent believer in trailblazer apprenticeships and has been a Level 4-7 apprenticeship tutor since 2017.

Environment and sustainability are important to Shamini. She volunteers for the London Borough of Hounslow as an environmental champion, campaigning on environmental issues and sustainability for the borough’s future.

Teaching

Shamini first joined UWL (when it was known as Thames Valley University) in September 2002 as a part time lecturer, lecturing on professional accounting courses (CIMA and AAT) at the Slough campus. She has over 20 years of teaching experience in the higher education sector, mainly in accounting, management accounting and taxation modules. She has also lectured at overseas centres for UK universities, both face to face and remotely. Currently, she is a registered tutor for a leading accountancy body, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
