Dr Umair Khalid

Dr Umair Khalid is a lecturer in Construction Project Management at the University of West London. Before starting his teaching career, he worked in the construction industry for several years on different infrastructure development projects. On starting his teaching journey at Nottingham Trent University in 2019, he gained ample teaching and learning experience as well as completed his PhD from the same institute. Since the start of his teaching career in the UK higher education sector, he has considerably improved his teaching and knowledge transfer practices with a speciality in construction management through rigorous learning and regular engagement with learning workshops and CPD opportunities.

In the research domain, Dr Umair has completed his PhD in Health and Safety Management within the UK Construction Industry and contributed to the academic knowledge with research publications. He has outstanding research knowledge of collating, synthesising, analysing and developing in-depth insight into data using advanced methodologies such as qualitative and quantitative research methods. Furthermore, he has experience in conducting as well as supervising high-quality research embedded with advanced research methods. Dr Umair has his research interest in health and safety in construction, sustainable construction and advanced technologies (digital) in the construction industry.

Teaching

I gained extensive teaching experience at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as empowered students' learning through personal tutoring and supervised several research projects. I teach and provide learning support to students of all ages, nationalities and transdisciplinary courses from a variety of backgrounds. I am a big advocator of adopting active teaching pedagogy in construction project management studies to promote proactive teaching approaches, engagement and collaboration to facilitate diverse student learning needs.
